Founder & Executive Director
Being raised in Memphis, TN, Coach Brett grew up immersed in the city's rich soccer culture. His love for soccer and early childhood education is rooted in his lifelong passion for the game and his experience assisting his late mother, who served as a local preschool director. This unique combination of influences shaped his vision for Building Blocks Soccer, where he introduces young children to soccer through fun, thematic learning experiences.
Brett played collegiate soccer at Lambuth University from 2005-2009, serving as captain and earning numerous conference and regional titles while competing in the NAIA National Tournament. He also played in the PDL for the St. Louis Lions. While a student-athlete at Lambuth, for mandatory community service hours and observation hours in his minor in teaching, he had the idea to build on his coaching skills at local elementary schools and combined soccer clinics with schools weekly thematic units, being a huge hit in the schools and parks.
After his playing career, Brett pursued a Master’s Degree at the University of Southern Indiana, where he was also the Men's Assistant Soccer Coach. His coaching journey includes a year with the women’s professional soccer team Pali Blues in Los Angeles, California and three years as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tn. In 2018, Brett served as the Assistant Coach for Memphis City FC (USL 2) and the Goalkeeper Coach for Memphis 901 FC during their first two seasons.
With over 20 years of youth, collegiate and professional coaching experience, Brett has earned numerous coaching credentials and licenses. He has had the privilege of learning from some of Memphis's most influential soccer figures and beyond. In addition to coaching, Brett is dedicated to community service, currently serving on the boards of Cancer Kickers Soccer Club and Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, and as a commission member for Germantown Parks and Recreation.
When not coaching, Brett enjoys spending more time on the soccer field with his two soccer-loving sons, ages 7 and 4. His wife, Lindsey, works at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex, founded by her father.
Coach Brett’s dedication to soccer, youth development, and community shines through in every aspect of his work, making Building Blocks Soccer a special place for young athletes to grow and thrive.
